Project Background

As over half of India’s current population is under the age of 25, youth voices will be crucial to shaping policy for the future of the country. Along with the ALFA Educational Society, a local community organization, the GESI team assisted in creating a campaign to establish a youth council to involve the young people of the district in political decision-making and community building as well as work to solve local problems in the Udaipur district.

The directive of the GESI team was to plan a campaign to promote the formation of the youth council, design advertising to accompany the campaign, and attract potential members through a variety of events and informational sessions at local universities. Capacity training was given to ALFA staff and community volunteers to ensure sustainability of the project, as well as written guidelines that can be passed down to future interns and volunteers.
