In Cochabamba, the GESI team interned with Pro Mujer’s Club Familia Sana program, a program that aims to provide quality primary healthcare services at low costs to Pro Mujer clients and their families. Through a number of surveys and personal interviews, the team determined that the most effective way address the lack of informed awareness in the community and underutilization of the program’s services was to improve promotional materials so that clients are better informed about all of Club Familia Sana’s offerings. They redesigned existing Club Familia Sana brochures to include more relevant and informational content and created entirely new posters that outline the program’s services and introduce the clientele to Pro Mujer’s doctors - an effort geared to increase familiarity with the services offered and to humanize those providing those services. Additionally, the GESI team created and led children’s health workshops to teach children in the community about the importance of healthy habits, nutrition, heart health, and dental hygiene. These workshops also acquainted clients with the location of the center and reinforced the program’s goal of providing holistic family health services. In the future, Pro Mujer will continue to host the children’s workshop on a regular basis and expand their repertoire to other health related themes of interest to clients, as well as create more content for new age ranges.
